Glebovsky Bridge and Cathedral Belltower. Panoramic 360 video |
From the 15th century, from the southwest side of the Kremlin hill, there was a city Ostrog (a fortified settlement surrounded by a palisade of sharpened stakes), where poor urban estates lived, as well as artisans, and on the site of the present Cathedral belltower there was a stone Glebovskaya tower with a gate. From the tower through the ditch was raised Glebovsky Bridge, connecting the Kremlin with Ostrog and the Great Moscow tract. The bridge was oak, with rails.
The modern stone Glebovsky bridge was built simultaneously with the Cathedral Belltower in the late 18th century and now connects the territory of the Cathedral Park with the Kremlin. The bridge is purely pedestrian and is protected by the state as a federal monument of architecture.
Cathedral belltower - a monument of architecture of the XVIII-XIX centuries, built in the style of classicism. Until now it remains one of the tallest buildings in the city and the Ryazan region.
